A few interpretations of Tropical New Wave Landscape Design, from the last few years.
This new planting design for the tropics is a novel concept, which incorporates weeds and low maintenance flowering plants, with the native tropical flora. It is an amalgamation of the plants growing in the wild, with the designed gardens, to create more diverse, robust and visually harmonious planting schemes. This idea of planting aims to preserve water, provide food source for pollinators and act as a genetic reservoir for diversity, beyond being ornamental backdrops for built spaces. It is a hybrid of the wild and the cultivated, that responds to seasons, and the changing climate of the tropics , creating a new ‘nature ‘!
When the world meets for COP 27, we need to pay extreme attention to the tropical flora, which is under constant threat, due to climate change, urban sprawl and alarming levels of pollution.
